Changes to 7 laws, AMLO's Plan B to modify the electoral system

What is the route?

On November 28, the Chamber of Deputies will rule on the constitutional electoral reform initiative and, if it is rejected by the plenary, “Plan B” will be launched during the week to specify the changes in the matter via secondary laws.

The president and his party have a simple majority to make changes to general laws, so Plan B would achieve their approval.

If there is any disagreement, the opposition could resort to appealing before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.

“I am about to send the legal reform initiative, but that will already be dealt with in the Legislative Power and, if required, in the Judicial Power if there is any constitutional controversy or it is declared unconstitutional in the event that the bill is approved. law. That already corresponds to the Supreme Court, ”he said.

Additionally, in the Judiciary the president has five profiles related to his project: Juan Luis González, Yasmin Esquivel, Margarita Ríos and Loretta Ortiz Ahlf (whom he proposed to reach the position), as well as the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Arturo Zaldívar.

For a law to be declared unconstitutional, the vote of seven court ministers is required, so the outlook for the president is optimistic.
