President Gustavo Petro accepted the Resignation of the Minister of Environment, Lena Yanina Estrada. The departure of the official was ratified with the expedition of Decree 0877 of August 5, 2025.
In the document, it is indicated that, as of the date, it is accepted “The resignation presented by Dr. Lena Yanina Estrada Asito, identified with the citizenship card No. 52,817,285, to the use of Minister, Code 0005 of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.”
The Directorate of the Environment portfolio will be assumed by Irene Vélez, who was designated as a minister in commission. Along with this work, the official must continue to exercise Its functions as director of the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA)position he currently occupies.
The renunciation of Estrada to the position is presented within the framework of the new changes that are being given in the Cabinet of the Head of State. With their retirement, there are already two people who have been in charge of this ministry during the Petro administration, including Susana Muhamad.

Another recent adjustment in President Petro’s government team occurred in the Ministry of Equality. At the beginning of August, Carlos Rosero’s departure was confirmedwho was in charge of the entity only for five months.
