The Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, said on Monday (29) that the government should announce, in October, what will be the changes to the Worker Food Program (PAT). The intention is to limit the discount rate charged for bars, restaurants and supermarkets in sales vouchers and food stamps.
During a press conference to present the results of job creation in August, Marinho said he still wants to exhaust mediation between operators and representatives of bars and restaurants to avoid a judgment.
Initially, the announcement of the changes should have been made in May. Now, the announcement is expected to take place next week after the minister returns from a trip to the Dominican Republic. The hammer should be beaten together with Finance Minister Fernando Haddad.
“President Lula has authorized us. It’s with me and Haddad, and he and I will make that decision as soon as we win the tiredness at the negotiating table,” said Marinho.
“We need to decide in October anyway. What we are looking for is to create conditions to avoid filing,” he added.

Discount rates, known as Merchant Discount Rate (MDR), are charged to establishments that accept these cards as a payment form. In addition to a decrease in rate, the government also wants to reduce the deadline for companies to pass the values to bars, restaurants and markets. Currently, the operators take about 30 days to pass on the resources.

The minister also commented on the postponement of a pact of valuing the working conditions of application delivery, which would be signed on Monday with iFood. According to the minister, the postponement occurred due to the government’s interest in expanding the number of participants.
“We are talking to other companies and we want to make a wider table, besides iFood,” he explained.
Job
Brazil closed the month of August with a positive balance of 147,358 jobs with a formal contract. THE Balance is from the new General Registration of Employees and Unemployed (New Caged) released this Monday by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE).
The ministry reported that the August result was 2,239,895 admissions and 2,092,537 dismissals in the period.
The balance of formal jobs in August exceeded the recorded in July, which was 134,251. Despite the result, job creation fell again due to the discharge of interest and the slowdown of the economy compared to the same month last year, when 239,069 were generated.
