The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently announced Major changes to the passport issuance process. The objective is to improve public services and accelerate processes, adapting to the needs of citizens. Who should not renew it?
Based on Resolution 12880, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 12, 2024, Minor citizens will not have to change their passport when they process their identity card or become of legal age..
This new provision modifies article 15 of Resolution 6888 of 2021, which required the updating of the travel document when the minor turned seven years old or reached the age of majority.
This happened because, at the time of issuing the identity card or ID, the identification number changed for each case.
