In the afternoon hours this Monday, the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies approved the creation of an investigative commission of the current high command of the Investigative Police regarding irregularities and influence peddling within the institution.
The announcement was made by the deputy and vice president of the Lower House, Claudia Mix, in the company of the relatives of the sub-prefect Valeria Vivanco and the sub-inspector Danitza Araya, Mitzi Liberona and a group of victims. Also present were deputy Gael Yeomans, Marisela Santibáñez and deputy Rubén Oyarzo.
The deputy Mix indicated that “those who accompany me and who are the protagonists of this story, are different cases. They are cases of national connotation, such as the case of our beloved Danitza Araya, but also the family of Valeria Vivanco. Of having experienced bad practices, protocols that were not followed, procedures, influence peddling, cases accumulated over a long time, with a sense of impunity that shames us.”
On the other hand, the sub-prefect Danitza Araya thanked “all those who said yes”, “Because if we are here, it is to do justice for everyone, because there are many cases and there are many people who are no longer here, I speak for the official Vivanco”.
“These have been difficult months. I have been in this chair since October 21, 2019 and I am still in this chair, and they do not give me options to continue moving forward. That people who have injuries in acts of service have the option of trying to recover or have a better quality of life. Being disabled in this country is very difficult,” he concluded.
