In an extraordinary session, the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies approved a new extension of the state of constitutional exception for the region of La Araucanía and for the provinces of Arauco and BioBío.
The approval was given in Congress with 89 votes in favor, so the measure will continue in force for another 15 days starting in March.
It is necessary to remember that the state of emergency for this area was decreed for the first time on May 16, 2022. After that, the government requested an extension to the legislature to extend the measure repeatedly.
It is also important to mention that the government assured that from the beginning of the state of emergency until January 2, 288 people were arrested, of which a quarter was for wood theft.
