Amid cheers and applause, the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies approved the resignation of Raúl Soto (PPD) from the presidency of the Corporation, as well as that of vice presidents Alexis Sepúlveda (Radical Party) and Claudia Mix (Commons).
With 131 votes in favor, six against and one abstention, the Chamber of the Lower House accepted the departure of the board of directors, who will continue in their positions until November 7.
After the vote, Soto expressed his gratitude “for these eight months that have allowed us, together with Claudia and Alexis, to run this Corporation.”
Along these lines, he said “to trust in you the future of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies to maintain a serious, responsible, fair leadership, and to maintain a good climate of dialogue and agreement within this Chamber and to give good signs also towards the country, which seems to me something tremendously relevant in the times we are living”.
Soto finalized on October 21 his resignation from the presidency, foreseen within the official “administrative governance agreement”, which should be preceded by Karol Cariola (PC). However, said agreement is hanging by a thread because the People’s Party (PDG) and the DC questioned their support.
