The Chamber of Deputies approved, this Thursday (2), the nomination of deputy Jhonatan de Jesus (Republicanos-RR) to take over the vacancy of Minister of the Federal Audit Court (TCU) opened by the retirement of Minister Ana Arraes. Former Pernambuco deputy for the PSB, Ana Arraes was a member of the court between 2011 and 2022.
The approval of the name of the parliamentarian, who is the son of Senator Mecias de Jesus (Republicanos-RR), needed a simple majority of the plenary – half plus one of those present – had 239 votes.
When thanking the vote, Jhonatan de Jesus defended in plenary that the decisions of the Federal Court of Accounts are technical and adequate. “No one, under my guidance, will be condemned based on the interests of groups or people who want to transform the TCU into an arena for the political persecution of opponents,” he said.
Jhonatan de Jesus was nominated by the leadership of the Republicans and had the support of seven parties (MDB, PDT, Podemos, PP, PSB, PSD and União) and two federations (PSDB-Cidadania and PT-PcdoB-PV). The deputy was in his fourth term, having been the most voted in Roraima in 2022.
