The rapporteur of the proposal, deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), highlighted that the objective of the proposal is to strengthen transparency and access to essential information about education in Brazil. “This project represents a significant step towards the formulation of more effective public educational policies, by allowing the sharing and publication of data collected in censuses and education quality assessment exams,” he said.

According to the project, the data collected will be processed without identifying the student or school institution.

Animal clones

Deputies today approved Bill 5010/13, authored by the Senate, which regulates the production of animal clones, mainly intended for livestock farming. The matter will be sent for presidential sanction.

The proposal includes cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, horses, donkeys, mules, pigs, rabbits and birds. The clones generated must be controlled and identified throughout their life cycle through a database to be maintained by the public authorities, which will also contain genetic information to control and guarantee the identity and ownership of the animal genetic material and clones.

A regulation must identify which animals will be kept in a closed production cycle, characterized as a containment or confinement regime in order to prevent their release into the environment.

Electronic anklets

Bill 989/22 was also approved, which allows police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office access to data and information generated by electronic ankle bracelets, such as georeferenced location in real time, without judicial authorization. The matter will be sent to the Senate.

The objective of the proposal is to prevent crimes and commit flagrant crimes. Records on the identity of those who made the query will be confidential and may be checked by the respective internal affairs bodies to conduct administrative disciplinary proceedings.
