Chacao City Hall implements stickers with a fine included for road violators

The adhesion of decals to the windows of offending vehicles has been a campaign applied by the Chacao Mayor’s Office during 2022, but once the tests have been completed, the sticker will now include the fine, which must be paid in order to carry out any administrative procedure in the municipality

The mayor of the Chacao de Miranda municipality, Gustavo Duque, reported that since December Chacao police officers have been authorized to apply “calcomultas”, stickers that specify the sanction for any traffic law offender.

The municipal authority presented the “calcomultas” through a video posted on its Twitter account. He explained that they would be glued to the front windows of the offending vehicles.

The Chacao municipality has used stickers for months, with a label that highlights the phrase “I am an offender.” However, it was a campaign to raise public awareness. Until May 2022, the mayor’s office reported having attached more than 500 of these stickers to offenders.

Now, this new model proposed by Duque is smaller and includes the fine. The objective is that the measure does not inconvenience just because the driver must remove the decal -which adheres strongly to the vehicle-, but also will have the sanction.

«It implies the fine, the sanction for the driver. It is no longer just the inconvenience of removing the sticker, but you already have the sanction, “he said.

The mayor highlighted some of the common infractions in the municipality, such as parking vehicles in front of parking entrances, stopping the car on the scratch, riding on the sidewalks and parking improperly.

“We ask all of us to be good citizens. December begins and we have much more traffic. Among all we can achieve it. Every person who rides on sidewalks, blocks parking lots or parks incorrectly, will receive a sticker with their fine, “he insisted.

Duque explained that it will be necessary to present and cancel the fine in order to complete administrative procedures in the Chacao Mayor’s Office, so all offenders must catch up with the payment of their sanctions.

How to pay a fine in Chacao?

According to the Miranda Governor’s website, the fine can be paid with a bank transfer in the name of the Miranda State Police Institute (Iapem). They detail the following steps:

  1. Deposit or transfer to the Banesco checking account: N°0134-0035-1903-5106-8997 in the name of the Miranda State Autonomous Police Institute (IAPEM). Rif: G-20005057-8
  2. Send the proof of payment to the mail [email protected]
  3. Deliver the proof of payment to the nearest Coexistence and Conflict Resolution Office. They are located at all Police Coordination Centers throughout the state.
  4. Request proof of solvency.
