Cetes yields continue to decline

Cetes Performance

The 28-day Cetes offer a yield of 9.75%, a rate lower than the previous 9.78%, Banco de México (Banxico) said in a statement.

For three-month certificates, the gain is 9.74%.

The six-month Cetes this week offer an interest of 9.71%.

Finally, the gain offered by the Cetes for one year is 9.78%.

Despite the lower yield, Cetes remain a good investment alternative, since they protect the currency from inflation and are low risk.

Why are yields going down?

The Cetes rate is linked to the reference rate of Banco e México (Banxico), so it is expected that there will be lower yields in the coming months.

Analysts anticipate that the central bank will make a 50 basis point cut in the reference rate at its February meeting.
