Cetes Directo goes for deposits 24 hours a day and 3 million users in 2026

Cetes Directo goes for deposits 24 hours a day and 3 million users in 2026

The official highlighted that Nacional Financiera, as the operator of Cetes Directo, is directly connected to the SPEI, but is working on the necessary tests and authorizations to ensure that deposits in accounts are expanded. He highlighted that This is one of the features most requested by customers.

Cetes Directo is a government platform that buys government securities such as Cetes or bonds without banking intermediation, so there are no commission charges.

Ballesteros said that they are looking to increase the number of users from 2.7 to 3 million users and that around 600 users are added per day.

To align with the National Financial Inclusion Policy (PNIF), which the government launched at the end of last November, Cetes Directo will carry out dissemination campaigns about the benefits of formal savings. According to the National Financial Inclusion Survey (ENIF) 2024, 58% of Mexicans save informally and 34% do not save money.

“We must remember that if we save the money in Cetes, it will be protected against inflation and purchasing power will not be lost,” he said, “we are going to invite all those who keep their money in piglets or in a payroll account to join in.”

Another of the Disadvantages of saving informally, according to the ENIF, is that People are often vulnerable to theftfraud or damage to the places where they keep the money.

The data indicates that 41% of people keep money at home, 20% in batches and 13% opt for savings accounts at work or with acquaintances.

Advantages from 100 pesos

One of the advantages of investing in Cetes, says Ballesteros, is that the rate of return is always above inflation and although in recent months, Banco de México has reduced the interest rate, impacting the performance of the Cetes, they are safe instruments.

In addition, the platform allows you to make investments from 100 pesos if you invest in Bonddia, a fund that offers daily liquidity, and from 300 pesos if you choose the recurring savings option, which means that people allow money withdrawal from their debit card.

“This recurring savings product is very useful for people who want to start their investment and it starts at 300 pesos so that they can generate greater savings; this money is invested for three months,” he says.

Ballesteros highlights that Mexicans like short-term investments more; in fact, 98% of investors do so in 28-day Cetes and Bonddia.

The official said that among the plans is not to accept cash deposits because the aim is for those who enter to be people in the formality of their savings.

Banco de México raised the reference rate to a maximum of 11.25% in 2023, making the Cetes an attractive instrument due to their returns.
