Slugger Yoenis Céspedes and starter Marcos Diplán were chosen by acclamation “Eagles of the Week”, in the second installment of the awards program that takes place from Hotel Hodelpa El Gran Almirante. Céspedes had the best offense of the eaglets, including last Friday’s game when he went 4-for-4, with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. On his side, Diplán had a one-start performance in the week, with five scoreless innings, where he faced the minimum of 15 batters, only allowed one hit, did not give away a walk and struck out three rivals. Before the elections, Richard Rodríguez was awarded as the best pitcher of the first week, Orlando Calixte excused himself for being ill. Rodríguez’s profile was introduced by the sports writer Martín Lajara, who highlighted the value of the native of La Canela for the Águilas. Amable Guzmán, representing Ingcovisa, presented the recognition plaque.
