César Vásquez minimizes health sector strike: “It is normal in these months when the budget is being seen”

The Minister of Health, César Vásquez, minimized the strike carried out by doctors and health workers, who demand a minimum increase of 10% in the budget allocated to that sector by 2025.

“It is normal that on these dates close to November 30while Congress debates the public budget bill for 2025, all unions carry out their strikes and announce their protest measures“said César Vásquez in a press conference.

According to the head of the Minsa, the protests will stop when the issue of the budget for 2025 is no longer discussed. “Through these actions, they exert pressure on Congress and the Executive to improve their working conditions, but I am sure that after this date, these things will change.”“, considered.

Thus, the Minister of Health dismissed the demand for a 10% increase in the 2025 budget. This is despite the fact that doctors from various regions of the country warn that if their demands are not listened to, the strike could intensify.

Ivet Mendoza, president of the Medical Federation of Peru, regretted that the allocation has not had significant changes since the health crisis, which affects patient care, supplies, medications and hospital infrastructure.
