“César the Abuser” faces a sentence of between 10 years and life imprisonment in the US

The alleged Dominican drug trafficker Cesar Emilio Peralta, known as César the Abusador, could face a sentence of not less than 10 years and up to life imprisonment, if found guilty of the charges against him. they impute in the United States, where it was extradited this Wednesday from Colombia.

Peralta will face charges for drug trafficking International in the District of Puerto Rico. He is accused of leading a transnational criminal organization based in the Dominican Republic, which sent thousands of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia, Venezuela and other countries, which were later transported to Puerto Rico.

Caesar the Abuser was arrested on December 2, 2019 andn Colombia after fleeing the Dominican Republic, where at that time he was considered the largest drug trafficker in the country.

He had been on the run since the dismantling of his gang in August of that year and the Dominican authorities had issued an international red alert requesting the collaboration of the International Police (Interpol).

According to the Dominican authorities and Americans, Peralta’s gang was responsible for sending tons of drugs to the United States, Puerto Rico and Europe.

The money obtained from drug trafficking was then laundered in the premises run by the Abuser, among them the best known luxury discotheques in Santo Domingo and nightclubs.

The anti-drug operation that dismantled the gang was unprecedented in the Dominican Republic due to its size, since it involved about 700 policemen and military that were deployed in a simultaneous in dozens of the group’s premises.

On the day of the operation, several leaders of the gang were arrested, some of whom were extradited to the United States, and on August 27, 2019, Peralta’s own wife had been arrested.

The FBI, which at the time offered a reward of 100,000 dollars for those who gave information that led to their capture, assures that Peralta has links in the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, United States and Puerto Rico.
