A little over a month after his departure from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cesar Landa He returns as foreign minister after President Pedro Castillo took the oath of office on Tuesday, September 13.
Landa Arroyo returns to Torre Tagle after the resignation of Miguel Rodriguez Mackay after differences with the head of state himself and other members of the ministerial cabinet over issues such as the sovereignty of the Peruvian sea, the Escazú Agreement and the breaking of diplomatic relations with the Saharawi Arab Republic.
It was exactly 39 days that Landa was away from the Foreign Ministry when Rodríguez Mackay himself succeeded him in office. His first appointment was in February of this year.
César Landa returns to the Executive in the midst of a request by President Pedro Castillo to the Congress of the Republic to be granted permission to travel to the United States between September 18 and 22 to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York .
It should be remembered that under Landa’s management, Parliament denied Castillo Terrones leave the country, so he was unable to attend the inauguration of his Colombian namesake Gustavo Petro. This event was decisive for his departure from the ministry.
