Cesar Landathe new chancellor of the Republic who returned to office this Tuesday, assured that he is once again part of the ministerial cabinet to strengthen Peru’s international policy.
“I return to serve the Nation as Foreign Minister, with the mission of strengthening Peru’s international policy, protecting Peruvians abroad. Always safeguarding democratic institutions and human rights, with transparency and honesty”he wrote shortly after being sworn in, after midnight and during the early hours of September 14.
On the night of September 13, Pedro Castillo swore in César Landa as Minister of Foreign Affairs, replacing Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Mackay, who had submitted his letter of resignation four days earlier.
Landa Arroyo returns to the Ministerial Cabinet 39 days after being replaced by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Mackay. He had taken office last February.
His predecessor submitted his resignation as foreign minister after Castillo Terrones gave his opinion against the positions he had defended after taking office in relation to the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic and the Convention of the Sea (Convemar).
In a letter sent to the president, the outgoing head of Torre Tagle pointed out that the objective set was to “revitalize” Peru’s foreign policy, “correcting errors” and trying to strengthen the course of the country’s international life.
