César Ferrari’s appointment as director of the DNP falls

César Ferrari will be the new director of National Planning

After several days of deliberations by the legal team of the Presidency, the Government finally decided to overturn the appointment of César Ferrari as director of the National Planning Department.

(The impediment that would complicate possession of the appointed director of the DNP).

The decision was made by determining that there is an impediment, stipulated in the article 29 of Law 43 of 1993according to which people who have Colombian nationality by adoption cannot hold this type of public office.

Ferrari has three nationalities: Peruvian by birth, Italian by blood and Colombian by adoption, a situation that prevents him from assuming the position of directing the National Planning Department.

The article states that: “Limitations for Colombian nationals by adoption who have dual nationality. Colombian nationals by adoption who have dual nationality may not access the following public functions or positions:

– The references in the previous article (president, vice president, senator, magistrate of the Court, Prosecutor, Comptroller, Attorney, …)

– The Congress men

– Ministers and directors of administrative departments.
