Cesar Acunaleader of the political party Alliance for Progress (APP), issued a statement to comment on the alleged sexual exploitation network that would have operated in the Congress of the Republic.
“I strongly condemn the reprehensible facts reported regarding the existence of an alleged sexual exploitation network within the Congress of the Republic. These acts seriously tarnish the image of an institution that should be a pillar of our democracy,” he said.
The regional governor of La Libertad also rejected what he described as a “malicious, irresponsible and defamatory use” of his name and leadership to link him to these events.
“I am not going to allow attention to be diverted from true responsibilities or for my figure to be used as an instrument of slander,” he asserted.
Likewise, Acuña assured that he will be the first to demand that fiscal and congressional investigations reach their final consequences. “Whoever falls falls, even if it involves members of the Alliance for Progress,” he added.
Finally, the governor of La Libertad stressed that individual responsibilities should not compromise institutional responsibilities.
