Cerrón escape: Presidential driver asks for permission to testify in the Inspection

The next citation could be of degree or strength. After he did not attend to testify on the 2nd and 10th of this month because the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez, did not give him permission, the Oversight Commission has summoned, for the third time, for Wednesday the 30th, the driver of the presidential vehicle , Felix Montalvo.

Montalvo’s lawyer, Jesús Poma, told Peru21 that tomorrow he will ask permission from the Police Command for his client to attend to testify before the aforementioned commission.

The Oversight Commission also summoned Jesús Poma, the presidential driver’s lawyer, to testify that same day.

According to the summons, he has to answer whether, on February 24 and 25, his client helped the leader of Peru Libre flee in the presidential vehicle, transferring him to the Pisco airport, so that he could travel to Cuba, Venezuela or Bolivia.

When lawyer Poma was asked if he would attend the Inspection alone, if Montalvo was not given the green light, he said that they would evaluate this together in the coming days.

The Oversight Commission seeks to clarify whether there was participation from the presidential entourage in this departure from the country, in a context of high political tension and growing scrutiny over the use of State resources and influences for personal or party purposes.

The president of the commission, Juan Burgos, advanced Peru21, last week, that the presidential driver was going to be summoned again as well as all those involved.

This summons responds to the need to obtain evidence and testimony that will clarify the events that occurred between January and February, the date on which Cerrón would have hidden in the Mikonos condominium, on Asia Beach, and his subsequent escape from the country.

Burgos has indicated that if the involvement of the official vehicle is proven, a new chapter would open in the political crisis involving the government and the president.

Jesús Poma must provide information about his client and his participation in this alleged escape.

THE PRESIDENT IS CALLED FOR THE 29TH

As already reported Peru21the head of state has been summoned to testify to the Oversight Commission on Tuesday the 29th.

If President Dina Boluarte does not attend that day, a delegation from that group will send her an invitation letter to interview her in person in her office.

The president and vice president of the Oversight Commission, Juan Burgos and Héctor Valer, have assured Peru21 If the president does not attend the summons, they will request the green light to do so in person at the Presidential Office.
