A changing classic, one of the good ones. Two penalties, one expelled, a lot of controversy and VAR to ask for. Cerro Porteño had two goals ahead and the clásico in the bag, but the expulsion of Miguel Martínez ended up reviving Olimpia, who tied it (2-2). Distribute points among the usual rivals.
The edition 318 of the traditional set (by local League) It was played today in Para Uno for the sixth date of the Apertura 2023 tournament.

FIRST TIME
Olimpia started more intense from the hand of a plugged in Derlis González. On the 10th, he hit the right sector of the Barça defense with stinging incursions.
The host remained dynamic in the face of the confusion prevailing between the lines of Cerro Porteño, who managed to level the process to the bone. Consequently, referee Derlis López issued the first warnings to Diego Churín (16′) and Víctor Salazar (24′), one on each side.
Cerro Porteño shook off the pressure, settled on the court and began to bombard the local area with set pieces. And, as a result of this paradigm, a cross from Federico Carrizo found the head of Alberto Espínola to open the scoring at the end of the first half (43′).

The Cáceres team, which was better due to wide passages and had more of the ball, went to the dressing rooms at a disadvantage.
COMPLEMENTARY
Olimpia came out determined to seek parity, but Cerro grew and was even more dangerous when it came to facing the final meters. One cross after another that resulted in an entertaining tug of war between Diego Churín and Luis Zárate.
Around 60′ Cerro Porteño got closer to the second goal and Olimpia lost confidence. Cáceres did not wait any longer and sent Bacundo Bruera (Brian Montenegro), Antolín Alcaraz (Víctor Salazar) and Richard Ortíz (Hugo Fernández).
Precisely the recently admitted Richard Ortíz starred in a play that the VAR interpreted as punishable (hand in the area) and the judge whistled a penalty. Claudio Aquino was in charge of the execution, who made it 0-2 (65′).

It seemed that Cerro had the clásico in his bag, but goalkeeper Miguel Martínez hindered Derlis González’s discount (hand outside the area) and earned the direct red card (72′). Sava sacrificed Robert Morales to allow the entry of the third goalkeeper, José Miers, who made his debut in the First Division.

And, in the same way, the VAR intervened shortly after verifying a contact from the rookie Miers that culminated in the maximum penalty. Derlis González did not miss out and sealed the 2-2. Crazy.

Sava sent Damian Bobadilla and Eduardo Brock in order to sustain the result, when at that point Cerro was drama and nerves.
Everything happened about the end. Cerro Porteño had three clear chances to take the victory and Olimpia, stunned, appealed to what came her way. Back and forth, all or nothing.
There was no time for more. Olimpia links three games without knowing the taste of victory. Cerro Porteño has a lot to analyze. The importance of Jean is not in doubt.
