Curicó Unido from Chile visits Asunción on Tuesday in need of a victory against the Paraguayan cupbearer team Cerro Porteño, in the rematch duel of the second second phase of the Copa Libertadores 2023.

The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the “La Nueva Olla” stadium in the Paraguayan capital. In the first leg on Chilean soil, Curicó suffered a 1-0 draw at the last minute that leaves the Guarani closer to the next phase of the continental tournament.

The winner of the series must face the winner of the duel Fortaleza from Brazil – Deportivo Maldonado from Uruguay for a place in the group stage of the Libertadores.

– 90 minutes, all or nothing –
Those led by Damián Muñoz arrive to face the commitment to all or nothing, with the illusion of bringing down a team loaded with cup tradition.

The visiting coach remarked that Cerro Porteño is one of the teams with the most participation in the Libertadores, but trusts in the personality of its players to prevail in the Paraguayan capital.

“You have to put the context well on the ground. We did not come to play a dignified role, we came to win, there are 90 minutes left to achieve it and we are going to play all the options in Paraguay,” warned Muñoz.

Opposite, the Argentine coach of the Paraguayan blaugranas, Facundo Savaremains in doubt about the inclusion of its starting goalkeeper, the Brazilian Jean Fernandes, who was expected to recover.

The fans of the “Ciclón de barrio Obrero” do not fully trust their substitute, Miguel Martínez, who is attributed responsibility for the goal that tied against Resistencia for the local championship last weekend (1-1).

“We’ll see how it evolves. We hope it will be available for this Tuesday,” the DT told reporters.

Under the orders of Colombian referee Wilmar Roldán, seconded on the lines by his compatriots Alexander Guzmán and Dionisio Ruizthe probable alignments are the following:

Cerro Porteño: Jean Fernandes – Alberto Espínola, Juan Patiño, Gabriel Báez, Leonardo Rivas – Claudio Aquino, Ángel Cardozo Lucena, Wilder Viera, Federico Carrizo – Diego Churín and Robert Morales or Marcelo Martins. DT: Facundo Sava.

United Curicó: Fabián Cerda – Augusto Barrios, Franco Bechtholdt, Omar Merlo, Ronald De la Fuente – Agustín Nadruz, Mario Sandoval, Yerko Leiva, Cristian Zavala – Diego Coelho and Federico Castro. DT: Damian Muñoz.
