The military chief detailed through his Twitter account that during the operation against illegal mining, motorcycle pumps, high-pressure hoses, fuel and other logistical materials were seized.
Hernández Lárez ratified that “all kinds of structures that depred the environment” will be destroyed and rendered useless, which affect protected areas such as the Yapacana National Park.
The Yapacana National Park covers an area of 320,000 hectares and is located in the extreme south of the country, near the border with Brazil, in the Alto Orinoco region, the main river in the South American country.
The Venezuelan official indicated that in the state of Bolívar (southeast), where protected areas of the Venezuelan Amazon are also located, the Armed Forces are still deployed to confront illegal mining.
Last week, Hernández Lárez detailed the destruction of another illegal open-pit mining camp in the Caura National Park, shared by the Bolívar and Amazonas states.
Since the beginning of the year, the Venezuelan military forces have carried out the operations called Autana and Roraima, aimed at confronting illegal activities that violate protected environmental zones in the south and southeast of the country.
Hernández Larez, through his twitter account, also reported that in another procedure carried out in the Anzoátegui state, 3 subjects were arrested for trafficking strategic material with 1,200 kg of copper.
