The Paraguayan Center of Engineers issued a statement of support for the electoral process carried out in our country. In addition, the union repudiated the violent acts registered in the last hours.
In the statement, the Center for Engineers congratulates the public for “the magnificent civic day of Sunday April 30”, in which the future authorities of the Executive and Legislative Branch of Paraguay were elected. “They were carried out with transparency and give legitimacy to the elected authorities,” he says.
They also indicate that the extraordinary participation is a sample of the confidence in the electoral system, which is fully consolidated and is internationally recognized for its transparency and efficiency”.

Regarding the acts of vandalism and violence headed by a sector that participated in the last elections, from the union they indicate that “We categorically reject them, and we request that the forces of public order guarantee all citizens their right to free movement and participation in their work, study, entertainment, and whatever activities they carry out in a free and democratic society.”
In this regard, they request that the forces of public order, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Justice Department act to identify those responsible for and instigators of the acts of violence, and that the full weight of the law fall upon them. “The right to demonstrate is exercised freely in the Republic of Paraguay, it does not have to affect third parties, and even less result in physical or psychological violence or damage to private or public property,” add.

They stress that institutions must be respected and strengthened, for which reason they reject totalitarian and violent attitudes contrary to the rule of law. We urge our associates and the entire Paraguayan society to work for the development and improvement of the standard of living of our citizens, in an environment of peace, freedom and justice”, they maintain.
