Juana Eglis Fernández, is secretary general of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC). Through the networks of the Uruguayan workers’ center, she expressed her greetings for workers’ day.
Eglis maintained that “from Avenida Libertador in Montevideo, we find ourselves waiting for the caravan to begin the great act of the world proletariat. I come on behalf of my people, Cuba, to represent my country in this wonderful country».
“This is a country of solidarity, work, solidarity and continuity. Cuba lives and works. Long live the world proletariat », he concluded.
At 10:00 in the morning, the three caravans arrived at the 1st of May square and from there they marched towards Libertador avenue, specifically to Valparaíso street where the stage of the act will be located. It is estimated that from 11:00 the formal start, to the act of the workers.
