Santo Domingo.- The company Central Romana Corporation has been responsible for building about 50% of the homes in the province of La Romana.
This was declared today by the Roman legislator Pedro Botello who assured that the measure taken by the United States Department of Customs and Border Protection has brought concern to the inhabitants of the province and the eastern region in general, since the company has operations in all its provinces.
“This decision by the customs department affects more than 25,000 families. I know of more than 40 bateyes in Central Romana where electricity, water, and housing are brought to the families of their workers,” said Botello.
Botello pointed out that the decision has saddened the provincials in a general sense because it does not correspond to reality.
“They have their reason, but we ask you to reconsider your decision,” said the legislator.
The Central Romana has denied the accusations made by the United States.
The company is generally well valued among the Romanians, a province in which it has achieved significant roots over the years, operating sports facilities, health centers and supplying basic services to sectors originally built for its workers.
