The discovery occurred in the Puerto Unión sector and put an end to a harrowing rescue effort in which family members, neighbors, volunteers and specialized brigades participated, who for continuous days removed tons of mud, stones and logs dragged by the landslide.
With this location, it was confirmed that the huaico left four fatalities: Ronald Jara Surichaqui (37), a native of Tarma; Thalía Pariona Enciso (28), from Perené; Miguel Ángel Huamán (48), from Acolla, Jauja; and the minor DAJP (4).
Meanwhile, access to the Central Jungle continues to be seriously affected. Heavy machinery works uninterruptedly on the marginal roads and local roads of Perené to remove the material that blocks traffic and hinders the arrival of humanitarian aid.
In sectors such as Bocatigre, at kilometer 31+200, front loaders try to enable vehicular passage, while in the Huaico area a tracked excavator continues with the removal of debris.
The authorities remain alert to the risk of new landslides due to the saturation of the soil and the flooding of the rivers, and have asked the population living on banks and unstable areas to evacuate preventively to safe places.
