As of April 1, Central Bank (BC) servers go on strike indefinitely. The movement was approved today (28) in an assembly by the category, which asks for the extension, for the agency’s employees, of the increases approved for federal police in the 2022 Budget.
Since the last day 17, the category had been making daily stoppages from 2 pm to 6 pm. Since the beginning of the year, the agency’s servers had been working in a standard operating scheme, with the teams working more slowly, and delaying the dissemination of indicators.
In recent weeks, several BC publications, such as the Focus bulletin (a survey of financial institutions) and the responses to the questionnaire that preceded the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) meetings, came out late. This morning, it was announced that the agency will not release several monthly statistics planned for this week, such as reports on external accounts, the credit market and public accounts.
The release of events and press releases has also been delayed. The change in the timing of withdrawals of amounts receivable was only informed during the weekend.
According to entities that represent the workers of the Central Bank, the president of the agency, Roberto Campos Neto, met last Saturday (26) with servers to discuss salary readjustments and career restructuring. Talks, however, did not progress. With no official proposals, the employees approved the strike indefinitely.
In recent days, the Brazil Agency has sought the BC press office, but the agency did not respond to any of the questions about the impact of the stoppages on the agency’s activities.
