Since January 9 of this year, all mobile phone lines in Mexico they must register and be linked with the Unique Population Registration Code (CURP), this, as part of the new mandatory scheme promoted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT).

If you do not comply with the new provision before June 30, 2026, the competent authority can suspend your line and you will only be able to make emergency calls until you complete the procedure.

What are the requirements?

Registration applies both for prepaid and postpaid lines and has the objective of reinforcing the security and traceability of mobile communications, reducing fraud and making crimes such as extortion through unidentified numbers more difficult.

Each operator may have slight differences in their platform, but in general you need the following:

Your active cell phone number. CURP (if you don’t know it, give CLICK HERE). Valid official identification with photo (INE or passport). Your full name. If you are a foreigner, you only need your valid passport.

Procedure

You carry out the process in the link that corresponds to your telephone company:

• AT&T: CLICK HERE (this link can only be opened from your cell phone).

In the case of Telcel, AT&T and Movistar, you can also do the process in person by going to a service center; The AT&T link can only be opened from the cell phone and regarding Bait, the link redirects you to the Altán Redes website.

These are the general steps:

• Enter the official portal of your mobile operator: Telcel, AT&T, Movistar or Bait.
• Capture your cell phone number and CURP.
• Attach your official photo ID.
• As it is a remote procedure, they will ask you for a selfie as proof of life as requested by the platform.
• Send and wait for confirmation that your line was registered.

Afterwards you will receive a registration sheet with the day and time you made the link that; in case it is not successful remotely, you will have three opportunities to trybut if you still have the problem, you will have to go to a customer service center.
