The State Water and Sewage Company (Cedae) is carrying out a hydration campaign in Rio today (31), distributing glasses of water to residents and tourists who are strolling in Copacabana, Parque Realengo, Parque Oeste, Parque Madureira and Piscinão de Ramos.
According to institutional disclosure, ten days after the start of summer, a utility vehicle (Kombi) and 14 bicycles with spouts and drinking fountains for pets provide free water to passersby.
“All water distributed comes from the Guandu Water Treatment Station (ETA) and undergoes continuous monitoring with a mobile laboratory, ensuring the quality of the supply offered to the population”, informs a note distributed to the press.
The summer season brings risks of dehydration due to the intense heat. High temperatures cause sweating and loss of fluids, sodium and potassium (electrolytes), which are essential for the human and animal organism. Elderly people and children are the main risk group.
To avoid health problems, everyone should drink more water, wear light clothing and avoid exposure to the sun between 10 am and 4 pm.
Cedae has been a mixed-capital company since 2021, when the state-owned company was partially privatized. The government of the State of Rio is the majority partner in the business.
