The Cecodap organization expressed concern about the recent actions of the prosecutor appointed by the now-defunct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab, who has already made complaints and reported acts related to bullying of adolescents in various schools. However, in those messages published on the prosecutor’s social networks, photos and the names of the young people involved in these events are exposed.
Cecodao’s message, posted on your website, makes direct reference to the case of the adolescent of the Loyola Gumilla School in the state of Bolívarwhere Saab uploaded to Twitter the video in which a young man kicks another in the playground of the institution and then identifies him in another message along with a photograph in which he comes out from behind with other adults who accompany him, presumably his parents and his lawyer.
In this sense, he expressed his rejection of the dissemination of this information via networks because, in addition to expressing his concern about the consequences for the adolescent and the educational center, he recalled that the exposure on these platforms of minors who are considered responsible for a a punishable act encourages them to become a victim, be stigmatized, or be judged a priori without really knowing what happened.
In his opinion, “it is inadmissible” that Tarek William Saab – who holds the position of attorney general – as another high official “is the one who violates the honor, reputation and self-image of an adolescent, through the use of a public platform to expose him », since they are the guarantors of ensuring that the laws are respected.
Cecodap recalled that in the Organic Law for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, specifically in its article 65, the right to honor, reputation, own image, private life and family intimacy is guaranteed, for which it is expressly prohibited to make that identification of a teenager involved in a punishable act.
Although they guarantee that justice is done for cases of violence and harassment, Cecodap demands strict compliance with the law. In addition, they remember that issuing judgments or advancing conclusions violates guarantees such as the presumption of innocence, defense and confidentiality.
