Cecodap: “A child who acts violently experienced this behavior”

Cecodap reiterates that Venezuela does not have official data on cases of school violence, so they do not know what the real incidence of this fact is


In recent days in different states of the country there have been cases of bullying or bullying. Abel Saraiba deputy coordinator of the NGO Community Learning Centers (Cecodap) points out that violence is a behavior that is learned, and in general, it is not something that will happen spontaneously.

In an interview for the whistleSaraiba warned that a child who acts violently or aggressively against his peers witnessed or experienced different forms of this behavior that are not recognized in this way.

The also psychologist and psychoanalyst said that “it could even happen that a father or mother does not act directly, but the child witnesses gender-based violence in the family or intimidating or hostile behavior by adults or significant people in the environment” .

Sarabia pointed out that recognizing these signals is key to being able to intervene to generate changes in the ways of relating and prevent them from causing damage to third parties. She highlighted that there are certain characteristics that allow us to identify adolescents who act as aggressors, among which are:

one- Capacity for empathy that the child has towards others because they find it difficult to put themselves in the shoes of others.

two- His relationship with those he perceives as smaller, weaker or more vulnerable because it is common for aggressors to act on this group of people.

3- You come home with money or belongings that are not yours.

4- The cruelty or ability to harm animals.

5- The reaction of the environment before the arrival of the child, that is, if they receive it with pleasure or fear.

Sabaria highlighted that this capacity develops gradually throughout growth; therefore, it is not easy to distinguish it in children under five years of age.

On April 1 and in an interview for EFE, the general coordinator of the NGO Cecodap, Carlos Trapani, reiterated that Venezuela does not have official data on cases of school violence, so they do not know what the real incidence of this fact is. .
