After hearing with Mario Abdo Benítez, President of the Republic, Cecilia Pérez, member of the shortlist for the State Attorney General’s Office, expressed that one of the priorities she will have will be the review of the fiscal management of the specialized units.
“We will do an administrative and financial review. The importance of better distributing human talent, taking into account the number of employees. According to that, we have to work on the budget and the priority measures, ”he said.
Among the projects that Pérez plans to promote in the event that she is elected attorney general is the award-winning denunciation, another is related to special procedures for cases of organized crime. And another to recover property damage caused by acts of corruption.
“I had resigned from my position as advisor to give transparency to the process and work on my own application. This was accepted by the President of the Republic himself. You have to do a review of the causes, we heard about the lack of action. We are not going to be able to have an increase in the budget immediately, we must confirm that it is important to have international support, ”he said.
He maintained that 91.4% of the budget is allocated to personal services such as the payment of personnel and rents. It is about G. 400 billion. Only the remaining 8.9% is allocated to investment.
“We are going to implement a rent refinancing plan, which is what generates the most debt, rents that have not been paid since 2019,” he commented.
When asked about what will happen to the stalled cases that were denounced as “sent to the freezer” by the attorney general, he stated that after the audit it will be determined if there were stalled cases or if the progress was hidden.
“All these cases have to be mobilized. If no important errands were done. We are also going to control the prescription cases, ”he concluded.
