Coritiba and Ceará take to the field, starting at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) this Wednesday (18), at the Couto Pereira stadium, for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship Series B. The game, which will be broadcast live on TV Brazilis crucial for both teams.
Occupying 12th place in the standings with 34 points, Coritiba is experiencing a period of ups and downs in the competition. After losing to Operário in the last round, Coxa needs three points at home to stay alive in the fight for promotion in the final stretch of the competition.
To gain access, the team from Paraná must achieve an unprecedented feat, as no team has ever achieved 10 wins in the last 12 rounds to reach Série A. In 2009, Coritiba itself achieved 8 wins in 12 games, but that season the team had 38 points in the 26th round.
Ceará is trying to get closer to the G4. Vozão has 39 points, three less than the current 4th placed Sport. With the best attack in the competition, the Ceará team has Erick Pulga as a standout and second top scorer in Series B. In addition to the 23-year-old striker, another standout is Argentine midfielder Lucas Mugni, who has already provided five assists in the competition.
Coach Léo Condé’s team has recent history in its favor, as Ceará has not lost to a team from Paraná since 2011.
