Mexico City is preparing to receive this weekend thousands of people who will visit the Basilica of Guadalupe for the Day of the Virgin, in this context the dialogues are carried out so that the routes are released.
The capital’s Secretary of Government, Martí Batres Guadarrama, yesterday reiterated his commitment to continue the dialogue with residents of Xochimilco, who keep Avenida Nuevo León blocked.
“We are fully willing to evaluate other alternatives, for handling the issue of drainage and sanitation that, in the opinion of those who maintain the protest, do not affect the town of San Gregorio,” emphasized Batres Guadarrama.
In a press conference, he pointed out that all the necessary technical personnel from the authorities will be in the place, in addition to enough space to evaluate and listen to the proposals and alternatives presented by the inhabitants who are currently dissatisfied with the drainage works, which began to take place on September 1 of this year, in Xochimilco.
He also recalled that on the instructions of the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Government Secretariat of the capital held a meeting on the night of Saturday, December 3, with the commissioners of the group of dissatisfied people, in which the local authorities “showed wide disposition and openness to listen to the demands, including the suspension of the work”.
“The works are totally suspended at this time as a show of the will of the Government of Mexico City and as an expression that no work will be imposed by force, that no work will be carried out in which it does not agree. the village. In that place there is no machinery, there are no workers, there is no work to continue with such works, the works are suspended, while the dialogue continues and alternatives continue to be analyzed, ”he stressed.
