Is there a sixth wave of covid?
Due to the rebound in active cases, health specialists consider that a sixth wave of Covid-19 is already drawing.
Active cases of Covid-19 are those that occurred in the last two weeks and therefore have the potential to be contagious, according to the definition of the health agency. At the national level, 20,642 active cases are registered, with an incidence rate of 15.9 per 100,000 inhabitants.
“Active cases are considered to be those positive cases that started symptoms in the last 14 days, making it possible to identify where there is greater viral activity and, consequently, an increase in transmission,” explains the Weekly Technical Report.
States with the most infections
With 6,110 active infections, Mexico City is the territory with the most people sick with Covid-19 until December 13, 2022.
According to official data from the federal Ministry of Health, it is followed by Quintana Roo, with 1,593 active cases; Tabasco, with 1,533; State of Mexico, with 1,531, and Yucatán, with 1,304.
With figures of less than a thousand infections are Sonora, Chihuahua, Baja California, Nuevo León and Jalisco. These five states register between 513 and 839 active cases.
In Mexico, 7 million 165,257 total cases have been confirmed, of which 53.3% occur in women, with an average age of 38 years.
Regarding the total deaths from Covid-19, 62% are registered in men, with an average of 64 years.
Mexico City, with 57,319 deaths; the State of Mexico, with 35,254; Jalisco, with 19,826; Veracruz, with 16,765, and Puebla, with 16,662, are the states with the most accumulated deaths since the pandemic began in Mexico.
