CDMX Prosecutor's Office requests 52 years in prison for defendants for the collapse of Line 12

The lawyer, who on various occasions has accused the capital’s authorities of contradictions, human rights violations and of giving “VIP treatment” (preference) to the construction company of Line 12, said that those 52 years should be imposed on the former director of the Florencia Serranía Metro and other current officials.

“Those 52 years are the ones that should be imposed on Florencia Serrania and the other public servants who, despite knowing it, did not prevent the tragedy,” accused the litigant.

Likewise, he questioned that “nobody wanted to see the obvious” and accompanied his text with photographs of the damage to the Metro prior to the accident due to overloading and the earthquake that shook Mexico City in 2017.

“Nobody wanted to respond to the alerts from the Metro staff, just like what happened with the Line 3 tragedy? (sic) The neighbors always warned about what was happening on Line 12 after the 2017 earthquake and the Mexico City authorities folded their arms, ”he emphasized.

On May 3, 2021, a part of the elevated viaduct of Line 12 collapsed, causing the death of 26 people and leaving more than 100 people injured.

In October of that year, the FGJ-CDMX presented the first 10 complaints in the case, among them the one with the highest profile is that of Horcasitas, who worked in the management of the now foreign minister Marcelo Ebrard, then head of Government of the Federal District (2006 -2012), and the first two years of the administration of Miguel Ángel Mancera (2012-2018), now an opposition senator.
