Two of 10 stations reopen
Twenty-one days after leaving the capital’s administration, the head of government, Martí Batres, led a ceremony on September 13 to announce the reopening of the stations: Isabel la Católica, Salto del Agua, which connects with line 8 and Balderas, which transfers with line 3.
He explained that these stations, being connections with other Metro routes, were a priority for reopening, however, the section from Cuauhtémoc to Observatorio will remain closed and will be reopened gradually.
Happy because today we reopened the Balderas, Salto del Agua and Isabel La Católica stations of the New Line 1 of the @MetroCDMXbenefiting nearly 200 thousand additional users to those transported by the Metro today.

“We couldn’t wait for it to be ready until Observatorio, among other reasons, because Observatorio is involved with other works. Observatorio is becoming a large transfer center, because it will be the connection with the Interurban Train, and we have the work now on the section from Santa Fe to Observatorio, Santa Fe has already been inaugurated, the Interurban Train El Insurgente has already connected with the city, but the work continues from Santa Fe to Vasco de Quiroga, from Vasco de Quiroga to Observatorio,” he said.
Batres did not specify when the entire route of Metro Line 1 will be reopened.
The stations that remain closed are Cuauhtémoc, Insurgentes, Sevilla, Chapultepec, Juanacatlán, Tacubaya and Observatorio, which are undergoing complete renovation work on their tracks, ballast, electrical installations, sumps and platforms.
On August 31, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador inaugurated a station on the El Insurgente train, from Lerma to Santa Fe, a few days before his term ends. Still pending are the Vasco de Quiroga and Observatorio stations, which are expected to be inherited for completion by the administration of President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum and the elected head of government, Clara Brugada.
