In January 2024, after being closed for two years and eight months, the last section of Metro Line 12 opened.
In a ceremony led by the head of Government, Martí Batres, six seasons (from Tezonco to the Tláhuac terminal) returned to service after the collapse of the elevated section that occurred on May 3, 2021, in which 26 people died.
For the rehabilitation of Line 12, 269 spans were reinforced with 53,000 pieces equivalent to 16,000 tons of steel.
Two spans were completely rebuilt: the span where the collapse occurred between the Olivos and Tezonco stations, as well as span 22, the longest curved span that had a deformation of almost 40 centimeters.
The work was carried out by Grupo Carso.
