The Government of Mexico City, through the Secretariat of Administration and Finance (SAF), launched a series of tax benefits for 2025 that seek to alleviate the economic burden of capital families. These discounts apply to property, water and vehicle ownership paymentsand are available from January 1, with options aimed especially at vulnerable groups and older adults.
Discounts on property payments
To encourage compliance with tax obligations, discounts are offered for those who carry out the advance annual property payment:
- 8% discount during the month of January.
- 5% discount in the month of February.
- In addition, special benefits are established for vulnerable groups, including older adults without a fixed income, single mothers, widows, heads of household, people with permanent disabilities and retirees:
- Bimonthly fixed fee of 65 pesos for residential properties whose value does not exceed 2 million 702 thousand 787 pesos.
- 30% discount for properties with a value greater than the established limit.
Reduction in water payment
For the water supply, a 50 discount% in the bimonthly fee to owners of properties belonging to vulnerable groups. This benefit is designed to reduce the tax burden of those who need it most, aligning with the principles of inclusion and social justice.
100% subsidy on vehicle ownership
Regarding the holding tax, the SAF grants a 100% subsidyprovided the following requirements are met:
- Cover the payment of the 2025 endorsement, set at 731 pesos.
- Own a car with a value of up to 250 thousand pesos, VAT included and considering the depreciation factor.
- Do not have holding debts from previous years.
- Possess a valid circulation card or renew it.
- This benefit is available to non-profit individuals and corporations and is valid until March 31, 2025.
Payment options and facilities
For the convenience of taxpayers, the City Government enabled multiple payment points and digital platforms:
- More than 8,800 collection points, including Treasury kiosks, banks, convenience stores and department stores.
- The “Tesorería CDMX” mobile application and the official website of the Ministry of Administration and Finance.
- Monthly interest-free promotions with participating credit cards.
