It details that, although young people have less risk of getting seriously ill, other consequences of acquiring this infection are high costs for consultations, medical treatment, lost work days and even hospitalization.
Influenza Breakthrough
Until December 15, 2022, 5,554 positive cases of influenza and 81 deaths have been confirmed, according to the weekly report of the Ministry of Health.
Of the confirmed infections, 94.2% are AH3N2 influenza; 3.3% due to influenza A; 2.1% due to influenza AH1N1, and 0.4% due to influenza B.
The states where the majority of cases have been detected are Nuevo León, with 921; Querétaro, with 782; Mexico City, with 573; Aguascalientes, with 540, and Zacatecas, with 387.
While the states with the most deaths from influenza are Zacatecas (8), Jalisco (8), Hidalgo (7), Mexico City (7) and Puebla (6).
“So far, the Institute for Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE) has not identified mutations related to antigenic changes, or changes in the virulence or pathogenicity of the influenza virus. No viral resistance to oseltamivir has been identified,” the report states.
