On September 24, the Cablebús Line 3which goes from Los Pinos to Vasco de Quiroga in Santa Fe, attracting the attention of thousands of people who line up to travel it, especially the weekends.
This transportation system, which has operated in Mexico City since 2021, has not only captured the interest of the capital’s residents, but has also become a point of attraction for foreign tourism, to such an extent that some travel agencies offer tours, particularly for Line 2, with prices ranging from 700 and 800 pesos per person.
Cablebús Line 2: The most attractive for tours
The first line of Cablebús It was inaugurated in July 2021 and connects Indios Verdes with Coatepec, in the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office. The stations on this line are: Indios Verdes, Ticomán, La Pastora, Campos Revolución, Cuautepec, and Tlalpexco.
Cablebus Line 1
The second line was inaugurated a month later. The paintings, which address themes such as female empowerment, traditional crafts and migration, can be seen from above and have become an attraction for various tourist agencies that offer tours.
Cablebus Line 2
FACT: As part of the urban improvement of the area, during the construction of the Cablebús, a multicolor mosaic which included the painting of facades in 3,400 houses, covering a total of 495,000 square meters of surface.
“Can you imagine flying over the largest neighborhood in Mexico City? On this tour of Itzapalapa (sic) you will have the best views of the capital from the cable car,” is the promotional phrase for a tour of Cablebús Line 2, offered in the Civitatis page for 740 pesos.
Other agencies offer tours on Tripadvisor for 800 pesos, with the addition of visit other points of interest in Iztapalapasuch as the Museum of Cultures, the Quetzalcóatl Market, and a traditional pulquería in the Historic Center.
According to the Government of Mexico City, Line 2 of the Cablebús is used by 65,000 people dailywhether for work, school, or even “tourism” reasons. It has seven stations, 305 cabins and 59 towers. In August 2021, Guinness World Records recognized it as the longest urban cable car line in the world.
Cablebús Line 3: tourist by nature
The most recent inauguration corresponds to Line 3 of the Cablebús. Although agencies that offer specific tours on this new route have not yet been identified, its location makes it a natural attraction for tourism.

Line 3 provides access to different venues such as the National Cinematheque, the Fourth Section of the Chapultepec Forest, the National Art Warehouse, the former Gunpowder Factory, the Urban Culture Park (PARCUR), the Environmental Culture Center, and Los Pinos.
According to data from the capital government, this line significantly improved mobility between the municipalities Álvaro Obregón, Miguel Hidalgo and Cuajimalpaoffering a total of 35,000 daily trips.
User opinions
Several users who have tried Line 3 agree that it has significantly reduced transfer times; a trip to Santa Fe that previously lasted up to an hour and a halfnow completes in just 20 to 25 minutes. In addition, the Vasco de Quiroga station is close to the Santa Fe station of the Mexico-Toluca Suburban Train.
However, some users also point out areas for improvement. They comment that on weekends there are long lines to board, especially at the terminal stations, and they mention that there are still pending detailssuch as paths for people with disabilities.
Cost and schedule of the three Cablebús lines
The cost of the ticket for any of the three lines is seven pesos, and it is free for children under five years of age, people with disabilities, and adults over 60 years of age. The schedules are as follows:
- Monday to Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
