This Saturday, the Secretary of Government, César Cravioto, and the head of the parastatal company Servicios Metropolitanos (Servimet), Carlos Mackinlay, toured the first 12 slopes and their commercial premises between Plaza Tlaxcoaque and the Chabacano Metro to talk with those who have a space for the sale of different products.
During the tour, some tenants handed over the keys to their respective commercial spaces to the government of Mexico City and Servimet to be intervened. With others, who were still operating, a dialogue was established to evacuate as soon as possible, since the interventions were close.
Among the works that the Secretariat of Works and Services of Mexico City will carry out on the slopes of San Antonio Abad, is the elimination of cracks and water leaks, works to improve lighting and air circulation, as well as a renovation of the commercial spaces according to the needs of each tenant and their characteristics.
There will also be painting works, as well as installation of surveillance and civil protection elements for the safety of users and residents of the neighborhoods that surround the Tlalpan road, in the Cuauhtémoc and Benito Juárez municipalities.
Capital authorities highlighted that during the time that the works last, the tenants are not obliged to pay installments or monthly rent and guarantee that once the renovation is completed, they will be able to use their spaces.
In total, Calzada San Antonio Abad and Calzada de Tlalpan have 34 pedestrian overpasses, which are located at the interstations of Metro stations, as well as at points of greater flow of people.
The improvement plan for Calzada de Tlalpan and San Antonio Abad includes the construction of a cycle path that will go from the Zócalo to Periférico Sur in both directions, as well as the rehabilitation of sidewalks and the installation of lighting along the entire road, with the aim of turning it into a safer and more accessible space.
Among the projects promoted by the Clara Brugada government, the construction of a floating road, currently under development, that will connect the San Antonio Abad and Chabacano Metro stations also stands out.
All of these works are expected to be completed no later than May of next year, as part of the comprehensive renovation of this road, the main access to the Azteca Stadium, venue for the inauguration and five matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
