The Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) reported that, through various ordinances and mayoral decrees, 33 municipalities of Lima and Callao They will grant new facilities for the payment of property tax and excise duties for this year and previous years.
“Due to the state of health and economic emergency that affects taxpayers and at the same time to improve tax collection, municipalities offer discounts for payment of property tax and excise duties for the year 2021, as well as the forgiveness of fines and default interest to residents who have not paid the property tax and taxes from previous years in a timely manner “, explained the manager of the CCL Legal Center, Víctor Zavala.
Among the municipalities that will provide these tax facilities are: Villa El Salvador, San Miguel, San Martín de Porres, San Juan de Lurigancho, San Isidro, San Borja, La Victoria, Breña, Ate, Lima, La Molina, Lince, Jesús María, San Luis, Barranco, Ancón, Pueblo Libre, Bellavista and Miraflores.
Also Rímac, Ventanilla, Surco, Lurigancho Chosica, Carabayllo, La Punta, Carmen de la Legua, San Juan de Miraflores, Callao, Los Olivos, Pachacamac, Magdalena del Mar, Chorrillos and Surquillo.
Zavala pointed out that these benefits will be granted as long as the debts are paid within the deadline set by each municipality, whose due dates in most cases will be at the end of December.
The extension for payment of taxes for the year 2021, the reduction of fines and default interest, as well as the expiration dates vary according to the provisions of each municipality.
The CCL noted that, after the established deadlines have expired, taxpayers must pay the fines and interest together with the property tax and the taxes they owe, which in certain municipalities not only correspond to the year 2021, but also to previous years.
