A new increase will register the price of fuel starting this Friday, May 6, and in view of this situation, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP), Marcela Galindo, called on the government to take concrete actions in looking for a solution to this new rise.
Galindo assured that, like the majority of Panamanians, he sees this increase with concern because it is unsustainable to continue with a rising trend in fuel prices.
“The call that we really have to make is for action by the Executive, specifically the Ministry of Economy and Finance, they know and manage the general income budget, they know how the numbers are and where the numbers go, so theirs it is that a solution has to come out about what can be done at a specific and determined moment, but we also have to think about what can be done in the medium and long term”, he said.
He predicted that, although it is important to solve immediate issues, future plans must be made to find long-term solutions.
According to the National Secretary of Energy as of 6:00 am this Friday, May 6, 2022, for the provinces of Panama and Colón, 95-octane gasoline will increase by B/.0.19 per gallon; the 91 octane B/.0.13; and diesel B/.0.43.
