Agents of the Investigative Police completed an arrest warrant against him this Friday, after being discharged from a hospital south of Mexico City, where he was recovering from the injuries suffered after trying to take his own life after attacking the other student.
Subsequently, he was transferred to the Reclusorio Oriente and entered into the preventive detention area.
The hearing is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on October 11 in the oral chambers of the Superior Court of Justice of Mexico City, located on Dr. Lavista Street in the Doctores neighborhood.
During the hearing, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will charge Lex Ashton with the crime of qualified homicide to the detriment of a 16-year-old student, as well as for intentional injuries to the detriment of a student and a campus cleaning worker.
At this stage of the criminal process, the accused and his defense must make the decision whether to assume the charges expressed by the prosecution or, where appropriate, they will seek to extend the constitutional period of 72 hours for their legal situation to be determined.
It will be in the next few hours that it will be announced whether or not Lex Ashton is linked to proceedings for the crimes of qualified homicide and intentional injuries.
In accordance with article 128 of the penal code For Mexico City, qualified homicide has a penalty of between 20 and 50 years in prison and, for the crime of injuries, the penalty is between six and eight years in prison.
