The Front for the Defense of the Interests of the province of Caylloma suspended the indefinite strike against the addendum 13 of the Majes Siguas II project for March 16, after the residents of the Colca Valley protested today in the Chivay district.
The force measure will be after the meeting in which they will participate with the officials of the Majes Autonomous Authority (Autodema) next tuesday march 15together with officials of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The residents of the different districts of the province of Caylloma took to the streets today to reject addendum 13, which implies the budget increase of 104 million dollars to change the network from open canal to pipeline to move the water from the upper part of Caylloma to the Siguas pampas.
The protesters also demanded that the 30% of the land that will be irrigated in Siguas are destined exclusively for the farmers of Caylloma, in addition to paying a water canon.
