The inhabitants of the province of Caylloma who for the third consecutive day protest in the Regional Government of Arequipa against the addendum 13 of the Majes Siguas II projectThey hope that the citizens of Arequipa will join the demonstrations, similar to the Arequipazo, when the people of Arequipa came out en masse to oppose the sale of Egasa.
The president of the Caylloma Defense Front, Juan Galdos, said this morning that Thursday will be the last day they will protest in Arequipa while waiting for the attention of Governor Kimmerlee Gutierrez, because different unions pledged to support them.

“Let the arequipazo be, let the leaders convene and mobilize”said Galdos and highlighted that some leaders such as the Andrés Avelino Cáceres, FDTA, Jardín del Colca commercial platform, have already promised to support them with the protests.

The community members ask to be included as direct area of influence of the projectbecause the canal that will transport the water will pass through some districts and they fear being affected by the leaks.
However, the residents also request that if the project is executed, the 30% of the 38 thousand 500 hectares is destined for the cayllominos, proposal that in the opinion of the Autonomous Authority of Majes is unfeasible.
