Roger Figueroa, president of the Venezuelan Chamber of the Dairy Industry (Cavilac), explained that 90% of the milk produced in the country has the national cheese factory as its final destination, while the rest of the dairy production goes to the industry, and is used to make pasteurized products, long-life items, powdered milk, butter, and yogurt.
The president of the Venezuelan Chamber of the Dairy Industry (Cavilac), Roger Figueroa, reported that per capita milk consumption in the country has fallen, so it stands at about 65 liters per person. He indicated that around five million milk is produced daily in the country, although 90% of the volume of this production is destined for the national cheese factory. “The other 10 or 12% approximately is the milk that goes to the industry,” said Figueroa.
Through an interview given to Union Radio, Figueroa specified that this percentage is used to make pasteurized products, long-life items, powdered milk, butter and yogurt, and explained that a part of the milk that is used for produce cheese is not pasteurized correctly.

«A very good part of that 90% is made with hot milk that it does not go through a matter of cold or very little cold, so that to skip this level of cold there is a lot of salt»he added.
In February 2022, the vice president of the National Federation of Livestock Farmers of Venezuela (Fedenaga), Luis Prado, stated that, despite the fact that the sector produced 100% of the meat and milk consumed in the country, they only cover the needs of 40% of the population, a figure that is below the per capita consumption recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
