The arguments of the defense of the accused in the case of the Cause roadbegan last Monday in the Federal Oral Court No. 2 with the lawyer Mariano Fragueiro Frías, who is representing the former president of the General Administration of Roads of Santa Cruz, Héctor Jesús Garro.
The Federal Oral Court, made up of judges Jorge Gorini, Rodrigo Giménez Uriburu and Andrés Basso, who lead the road cause, They assigned a maximum of three audits to each of the defenses, and established an order that must be complied with continuously and immediately, which means that if any of the parties requires fewer hearings, the one who follows on the list will continue.
In this sense, according to the order established by the court, Raúl Daruich’s defense was the third to testify. For the former official, the prosecution requested six years in prison for the crimes of aggravated fraudulent administration.
During his statement, the defendant’s defense argued that Daruich “did not have at any time the possibility of being in charge of managing the administration or care of assets” during his tenure.
His lawyer, Mario Ganora, pointed out that the trial did not “deepen” on “how the National Highway Administration is organized” and urged the Court “to disregard the arguments that have to do with the fact that this has been a mask, a husk, to consider what is strictly typical of a crime consisting of a breach of trust such as fraudulent administration”.
At the time, the lawyer questioned “The allusions to the existence of a corruption matrix made by prosecutors Diego Luciani and Sergio Mola”, who called for a six-year prison sentence for Daruich.
